- Collect Contact Info
- Have them create a gravatar.com account
- make sure pic is set to G
- make sure they use same email they will use on SA Blog
- In WP, Click on USERS » Add New » (fill out info) » Add User
- use Role "Contributor" if testing someone out or "Author" if they are real and will show up on sidebar
- Find the same user and click Edit
- Fill out the rest of their digital identity media info
If they don't have a website, they are all set.
If they do have a website and want to syndicate the posts, then…
- Go to their website & Grab the URL
- In WP, click on Syndication » Add New Source (add in blog URL) » Click Syndicate
- Pick the Feed that looks the best (often times it's the first one) » Click "use this feed"
- Make sure the RSS pulls out the full blog post and not just the first 5 lines
- If it only pulls out the first 5 lines, we have a problem and need them to change it (Tom will explain more if this happens)
- Match up the Feed with the author profile you set up above
Now they need to test the syndication
- they can write a post and TAG it with either #sachat or sachat
- note that it can take up to 60 mins to syndicate
- if you are working with them live and want to test right away, you can auto push the syndication by going to Syndication » (Check) » Update Checked
If it shows up, all is good!
If not, run for the hills in a mad panic!
